Macromedia Flash

We often use Macromedia Flash technology to enhance site navigation, improve interactivity, and provide more dynamic content. Although we believe Flash is ideally used alongside HTML on a web page, it can also be used for development of complete, complex web applications.

In March 2002, NPD Research conducted a study to determine what percentage of web browsers have Macromedia Flash preinstalled. The results show that 98.3% of web users can experience Macromedia Flash content without having to download a plug-in. Flash is pre-installed on most computers, since it’s included with all copies of Windows 98, Windows XP and browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, America Online, and Macintosh operating systems, among others.

Flash allows us to create a web experience that is attractive, compelling, and compatible across browsers (often more compatible than complex Dynamic HTML or Java solutions). Additionally, Flash supports various advanced web functionalities: database connectivity, XML, support for CGI and JavaScript, sockets, and complex interactivity features.

With scalable vectors, animation, sound and advanced navigation, Flash sites provide the high production quality that attracts visitors, and brings them back to your site. Since Flash is free of the limiting design capabilities of more traditional web display options, it lets us clearly and exactly express your brand and company identity.

We design Flash solutions very carefully with special attention to usability factors. We believe Flash is just one of the tools in the process of developing rich, user-friendly web experiences, and not the solution by itself. High usability, however, does not mean developing a conservative interface with little room for creativity. When used properly, Flash becomes very powerful cross-platform, interactive web development environment.
